Software:
The Adobe Creative Cloud is a powerful suite of creative tools. Everything you need to create and edit audio and video, create designs, manage websites, and store projects on the cloud is included. It is available to all UNC students and staff, and can be downloaded here.
Audacity is a free option, but is a really easy to use software for editing audio. It has many convenient tools built-in, and can export audio to many formats. This software is recommended for simple edits, while Adobe Audition is better for more complex projects with more audio clips.
Cleanfeed is a free remote recording studio. It is easy to get up and running, and allows people to record from multiple computers located anywhere. It is not as feature-rich as Zencastr, but it is a good alternative.
Spaces:
The Media and Design Center, located in the Undergraduate Library, has tons of resources to facilitate podcast recording. They have a studio, as well as recording equipment that can be rented. They also have staff available to assist with recording and troubleshooting.
The SILS Library in Manning Hall has a small recording studio that is available to School of Information and Library Science Students. A few staff members are SILS students, so coordinating with them to record audio is an option.
Instruction:
In addition to one on one instruction, the Media and Design center has created a series of Guides for Digital Literacy Projects designed to walk students through the steps of creating audio and video.
The Digital Innovation Lab, located in Greenlaw Hall, has a staff on hand to assist with anything related to podcast production.
